On Thursday 22nd September the Year 11 geographers with Mrs Boylan and Mrs Hardy, went on a visit to Bowness-on-Windermere to collect data for their GCSE Controlled Assessment. The weather was glorious and they spent a day in the autumn sunshine conducting pedestrian counts, traffic surveys and environmental quality surveys, so that we could discuss the effects that tourism has on Bowness. As it was such a lovely day, there were plenty of tourists visiting the town so pupils were able to ask them, as well as some local people, their views on Bowness and the impacts of tourism there. The group managed to gather all of the data they need to complete excellent geographical investigations into tourism in Bowness as well as having a great day out of school (and even some delicious ice-cream!).
