A Fond Farewell to our Chair of Governors

Our Chair of Governors, BillDrake, is retiring from this role which he has held since the 1990's. Bill hasloyally served the school community with great diligence, wisdom and commitmentsince succeeding Rev Canon Dunstan Cooper VG and becoming the first lay personto assume this key position. Prior to this, Bill served on the governing bodyas Parent Governor and Vice-Chair. Throughout his time of office, he has workedclosely with four headteachers, overseen many significant national changes andthe appointment of many staff as well as supporting countless school events.

Bill and his wife Pauline haveactively and loyally supported the school since 1979 when the first of theirfour children joined Saint Bede's.

Their family link continued with two grandchildren attendingin recent years and Pauline was the secretary of the school's PTFA for twelveyears. As well as giving so much time and energy supporting the school, Billand Pauline are very active members of Saint Joseph's, Ansdell. In recognitionof Bill's service to Saint Bede's, a presentation has taken place and we havenamed the RSLA block the Drake Building in a special ceremony.
