A group of talented mathematicians took part in the Blackpool Maths Challenge on Thursday 12th July.
Joseph, Emilia, Thomas and Evie represented Saint Bede’s at the annual event, which took place at Highfield Leadership Academy.
Pupils from across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde were put through their paces with two solid hours of maths tasks split over four rounds. These included: cross numbers, mental maths, collective memory and a final round of difficult problem solving.
Our Year 7s worked solidly as a team throughout and their continuous hard work and enthusiasm paid off as they came second at the end of the competition (narrowly pipped to the first place post!).
Mr Youde, who led the group, said: “I am so proud of all of their efforts! Not only did they put themselves forward to participate, but they conducted themselves meritoriously.” He added: “They have done me, my department and our school so proud.”
