Each year, through Advent, we encourage our young people to come to a deeper understanding of the saying 'It is better to give than to receive' and that homelessness and food poverty are hardly ever a life-choice. In their forms our pupils set out to fill Christmas Hampers for one of the homeless charities that we support by signing up to bring in one or two items for a reverse Advent calendar. Our aim is to identify the need, find some way to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in our local communities through our support of Parish SVP Groups; St. Cuthbert's Family Centre, Blackpool; Fylde Foodbank, St. Anne's, Vincent House, Blackpool; Streetlife, Blackpool; and Harbour House, Lytham.
This year our families responded with such generosity that almost 50 hampers were filled and sent out or delivered directly to the people who need it the most. It was heartening to see that in these COVID times; despite the separation and loss; that the love of Christ is burning brightly through the heart of this community. Thank you for your overwhelming generosity.
