Through the Chaplaincy department, the pupils of Saint Bede’s are always on hand to represent the school in Diocesan and Deanery liturgies e.g. ‘The Big Assembly’ in 2010 (Papal Visit); 2012 Pilgrimage to the Relics of Saint Terese of Lisieux in Lancaster; and by supporting parish communities in a variety of ways e.g. assisting with church cleaning, promotional support during mission week, assisting with Deanery and Diocesan Masses and liturgies through ministry or providing refreshments afterwards; visiting and befriending the elderly in care homes; fundraising collaborations (St. Peter’s ‘Pin Prick Mission’, Vila El Salvador) and supporting local parish anniversary celebrations by creating a time capsule to be opened in 25 years (St. Peter’s 175th Anniversary). The SVP run an annual ‘Exile for a While’ investigation into homelessness. A growing number of our former and current pupils have become involved in the Diocesan Pilgrimages to Lourdes and the World Youth Day events in Madrid and Krakow.
