Assistant Subject Leader of Religious Education

REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2021

The opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and ambitious Assistant Subject Leader for the Religious Education Department. Applicants must be practising Catholics who are committed to enhancing the already strong Catholic ethos of the school. This is an ideal role for someone with a passion for their subject who is ready to take on the responsibility of embedding curriculum development in a key assistant middle-leader position.

Teacher of Religious Education / Assistant Chaplain

REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2021

The Governors of the school are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and committed Teacher of Religious Education / Assistant Chaplain. Applicants must be practising Catholics who are committed to enhancing the already strong Catholic ethos of the school.  The balance between the time allocated to the Chaplaincy role and to teaching in R.E. will be flexible and based upon the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

Initial Teacher Training Opportunities (ITT)

We are involved in three local training consortiums (School Direct Programmes), as well as having strong links with the University of Cumbria’s PGCE programme.

Catholic Teaching Alliance 

The Preston based Catholic Teaching Alliance (CTA) is a partnership between 56 Catholic primary and secondary schools and post-16 colleges with a shared vision and commitment to providing first class, professional development for trainee teachers, practising teachers and school leaders.  We work in partnership with the University of Cumbria. Newman Teaching Alliance

The Newman Teaching Alliance’s one-year course is designed in partnership with North West based Edge Hill University to offer all the benefits of a conventional PGCE with a firm grounding in practice as well as theory.  The Alliance includes five local partner high schools at present.  All of these schools are local, long-standing partners of Cardinal Newman College and all have been graded as outstanding or good by Ofsted in their last inspection.  This course gives ITT students the unique opportunity to combine training in a post-16 academic environment as well as training at KS3 and KS4. Based at Cardinal Newman College, Preston you can find more information at Newman Teaching Alliance

Lancaster and Fylde Schools Alliance

The Lancaster and Fylde Schools' Alliance is comprised of four schools based in Lancaster and on the Fylde coast. These schools have been chosen to be part of our alliance as they offer our trainees a comprehensive and supportive environment in which they flourish as teachers. The schools, which offer an excellent introduction to the diversity found in UK schools, are staffed by committed, enthusiastic and experienced mentors who have proven success ensuring the best outcomes from our trainee teachers.
