There are two vacancies, for fixed term contracts, for the role of Learning Support Assistant (TA2B). You will work within the Learning Support Department. The successful applicant will join a team of experienced and enthusiastic staff working with individuals and groups of children with a variety of special educational needs. 

You will work with the teacher in a collaborative way, in meeting the personal, social, emotional, intimate care and curriculum related needs of our students.

Saint Bede’s Catholic High School is a thriving, oversubscribed and highly successful school. It is situated in the pleasant resort town of Lytham, with easy access to the motorway network. Saint Bede’s is a highly effective school viewed by the pupils as ‘an inclusive, safe and aspirational community’. During our most recent Ofsted inspection (June 2018) Inspectors were ‘struck by the positive attitude, courtesy and the high levels of self-esteem consistently demonstrated by the pupils’. Standards of attainment are high and pupils are well-motivated and keen to learn.

The opportunity has arisen to appoint a well-qualified and committed teacher of Food Preparation and Nutrition.  The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who is passionate about the subject and has the energy and commitment to inspire and motivate students. Cover Supervisor

Grade 6 (£21,748 - £25,481)
26.25 hours per week (pro-rata, term-time only)

Required for: Autumn 2021

The Governors of Saint Bede’s Catholic High School are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor who will provide supervision for absent teachers (using provided plans and resources). The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, supportive and eager to build good relationships with pupils. 

  • Essential qualification: Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy
  • Desirable qualification:NVQ Level 3 or above qualification (or equivalent)
  • Essential experience: Previous experience of working with children
  • Desirable experience: Previous experience of working within a classroom environment

Initial Teacher Training Opportunities (ITT)

We are involved in three local training consortiums (School Direct Programmes), as well as having strong links with the University of Cumbria’s PGCE programme.

Catholic Teaching Alliance 

The Preston based Catholic Teaching Alliance (CTA) is a partnership between 56 Catholic primary and secondary schools and post-16 colleges with a shared vision and commitment to providing first class, professional development for trainee teachers, practising teachers and school leaders.  We work in partnership with the University of Cumbria. Newman Teaching Alliance

The Newman Teaching Alliance’s one-year course is designed in partnership with North West based Edge Hill University to offer all the benefits of a conventional PGCE with a firm grounding in practice as well as theory.  The Alliance includes five local partner high schools at present.  All of these schools are local, long-standing partners of Cardinal Newman College and all have been graded as outstanding or good by Ofsted in their last inspection.  This course gives ITT students the unique opportunity to combine training in a post-16 academic environment as well as training at KS3 and KS4. Based at Cardinal Newman College, Preston you can find more information at Newman Teaching Alliance

Lancaster and Fylde Schools Alliance

The Lancaster and Fylde Schools' Alliance is comprised of four schools based in Lancaster and on the Fylde coast. These schools have been chosen to be part of our alliance as they offer our trainees a comprehensive and supportive environment in which they flourish as teachers. The schools, which offer an excellent introduction to the diversity found in UK schools, are staffed by committed, enthusiastic and experienced mentors who have proven success ensuring the best outcomes from our trainee teachers.
