EARLY HELP OFFER
‘Pupil voice is highly valued. Pupils can access a wealth of early help support.’

Our Early Help Offer
The wellbeing and social development of all our pupils is paramount. All teachers and support staff take great care and pride in getting to know each pupil as an individual. We are determined to deliver a high level of pastoral care to all our pupils, providing an inclusive education that values everyone’s contribution to our school community.
Saint Bede’s is committed to providing pupils and their families with the right help at the right time. It is perfectly normal for pupils to need a little extra help or advice from time to time. If you, as a family, are struggling or if you have any worries or concerns about your child, our Early Help offer can provide much-needed support and advice. This may include concerns about behaviour, home circumstances, mental health or general well-being.
Who can help me at Saint Bede’s?
The ‘Who can help me at Saint Bede’s?’ visuals are displayed in classrooms and around school to remind pupils of the wide range of support available. It highlights who pupils can talk to, where they can go for help, and the services available both in and outside of school, reminding pupils that support is always accessible, and they are never alone.

Saint Bede’s Safety Plan Cards
Each year all pupils are issued with a double-sided Saint Bede’s Safety Plan Card to carry with them and take home. This card contains key information where they can access support outside of school hours.

School Nurse
Our School Nurse supports pupils with advice and guidance on a wide range of topics:
- Health Advice
- Emotional Wellbeing
- Healthy Eating
- Family Relationships
If you would like more information, please contact Miss Cochrane. Pupils can also request to see the School Nurse via their Head of Year.
Early Help Assessment
All families can experience challenges at different times, and it is not always easy to recognise when support is needed or to know what steps to take next. At Saint Bede’s, we recognise the important role schools play in supporting children, young people, and their families during these times.
Where appropriate, we may work with families to access additional support, including involving external agencies through an Early Help Assessment (EHA).
Early Help Assessment is a supportive process designed to identify and address the needs of children and their families as early as possible, before concerns become more serious. It focuses on providing the right support at the right time. An Early Help Assessment is carried out in partnership with the family. It involves gathering and exploring information about all aspects of a child or young person’s life, including their strengths as well as any areas of concern. Together, this helps us to identify where positive changes can be made and what support may be beneficial.
Our aim is always to work collaboratively with families to ensure children and young people feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

Anti-Bullying at Saint Bede's
We encourage parents and carers to share any concerns with us, as this helps us to respond promptly and effectively.
See our guide for parents on the process when a bullying concern is raised with school and the pastoral team.
